Ball Park Music

England had Blur and Pulp, America had They Might Be Giants and Pavement, we used to have Custard. Now, finally, a band has emerged to take the throne reserved for purveyors of addictive, catchy, too smart for your own good pop. It’s Ball Park Music. You know them already from the billion singles they released last year from their ubiquitous debut album Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs. “iFly”, “Sad Rude Future Dude”, “All I Want Is You” and the list goes on. You’ve either heard them on the radio or screamed them back over a festival fence but either way, you’ve at least tapped your foot to one of their tunes in the last 18 months. Not ones to let a good thing slide, the lads and ladette have jumped straight back on the horse for the new single “Surrender”. And guess what? It rules. Ball Park Music are so excellent they’re almost predictable – in the best possible way.
